Methodology and sources
The ranking compares your salary with the salaries of employees in your country, and with employees worldwide. It is built only from public, official statistics.
What is measured
- Gross annual salary, before tax and social contributions.
- Employees only, on a full time equivalent basis. Self employment, pensions, benefits and capital income are not included.
- 2026 values, in each country's own currency.
- 214 countries and territories. Cuba, North Korea, Eritrea and Syria are not covered.
How to read your result
A result of 63% means that 63% of employees in your country earn less than you. Top 37% says the same thing from the other side.
The world ranking converts every salary into dollars at purchasing power parity, so that a salary in Lagos and a salary in Oslo are compared by what they can buy locally. Each country weighs according to its number of employees, about 1.9 billion people in total.

Currencies
You can enter your salary in your country's currency or in one of the main world currencies. Conversions use the World Bank official exchange rate, as an annual average, fixed for the whole year so that the same salary always gives the same result.
Accuracy
Results are estimates, checked against national statistics for sixteen countries and generally within a few points of them. Data is more complete for some countries than for others. The figures are updated once a year.
